CIRCUS IN A COUNTRY WITHOUT DATA: AN OVERVIEW OF THE CIRCUS SECTOR IN SPAIN

This talk offers an analysis of the circus sector in Spain as it stands today, addressing the sector’s evolution, its regional structure and its state in areas such as creation, training, festivals and associationism. Drawing on sector data and mapping, the talk focuses on territorial imbalances, the role of institutions and the main challenges facing contemporary circus. The session takes a critical, contextual approach, offering an understanding of the sector today and prompting reflection on its future development.

COOPERATION FOR GROWTH: REDEFINING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INSTITUTIONS AND ARTISTS

This discussion intends to create a space for dialogue between public institutions and professionals from the performing arts sector, in order to analyse and improve their relationship. Topics such as support, funding, programming and the sector’s needs will be addressed, with the aim of identifying good practices that foster a more equitable, transparent and sustainable model. This round table also intends to propose specific actions to help improve public policies and strenghten the sector’s development.

This gathering offers an informal space for artists, arts managers and programmers, encouraging dialogue, exchange and new connections within the sector. The menu includes meat paella or vegetable paella, with a drink included. Registration is mandatory in order to secure a spot. This lunch is one of the festival’s professional activities, designed to foster exchange and strengthen the networks between professionals from the Balearic Islands and overseas.
